I didn't sleep well last night, at all, and today I took in so much sugar and caffeine that I gave myself a headache. And I have a page long MUST DO list that I've been neglecting all week and isn't getting any shorter. It's getting distracting and overwhelming, and soon I'm going to have to give it some attention.

But I'm going to hit pass 10k today if it kills me.

So now I'm going to go make myself some tea, stretch my muscles, and then come back and just write for two hours.

The rest of the world can wait for me for two hours.

I'm jumping back and forth between two chapters, trying to work out the logistics for a couple of action scenes, and am also a bit distracted by life right now. The word count is creeping steadily forward, but I won't have anything suitable for posting today. Check back tomorrow.

Here be, for now, my NaNoWriMo blog. NaNoWriMo, for the uninitiated, is short for National November Writing Month, the goal of which is to write 50,000 words of a novel in a single month. HA HA HA! No, really. But seeing as how I'm not completely insane, I'm aiming for about half that. My goal for the contest is not to win, per se, but to get a good start on my novel and build momentum that will carry me out of November and through to the finish.

I'll be posting chapters here as I go. They're not necessarily up for critique--it's much too early in the draft stage for that--but that doesn't mean feedback isn't welcome or encouraged. The main thing is, if I know you're reading, I'll feel accountable to keep writing and posting more. The goal at this point is simply to finish the story. Improving it will come later.

So please join me in my attempt to write my novel. Hopefully, watching from the sidelines will be entertaining for you. Even more hopefully, it will be entertaining because the story is actually good, and not because it's so bad it's good; but either way ought to be a good time for you readers.
